Taking place under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, Special Olympics World Games Abu Dhabi 2019 will be the largest sports and humanitarian event in the world this year.
Set to be the most unified Games in the 50-year history of Special Olympics, involving people with intellectual disabilities in every aspect of the event, the World Games will welcome over 7,500 athletes and 3,000 coaches from over 190 nations.
A Cultural Olympiad of events taking place around the capital in celebration of the Games includes concerts, the Global Youth Summit, the Global Inclusion Forum, the Mother of the Nation festival and much more entertainment for all the family to enjoy.
The United Arab Emirates will be the first MENA country to ever host the Special Olympics World Games—a humanitarian and sports event for people of determination with intellectual disabilities. In these Games, athletes of determination will not only be competing for gold, but also shattering perceptions and redefining what it means to be truly determined.
